V roku 1997 v Halloween Havoc získal druhý krát tento titul v zápase proti jeho v skutočnom živote priateľovi a kamarátovi Eddie Guererrovi . Tento zápas bol veľmi vysoko hodnotený kvôli jeho technickej stránke a plynulosti a tak sa ten to zápas stal zápasom roku . V tejto dobe patril Rey Mysterio k hlavným zápasníkom v WCW. Potom až WCW bola predaná WWF Rey Mysterio sa objavoval v zápasoch federácií ako XWF a CMLL- kde Rey urobil nejaké zápasy v Mexicu bez masky . No a potom sa už Rey Mysterio upísal WWE v roku 2002 kde pôsobí až dodnes . Vince McMahon mal však podmienku že Rey Mysterio musí opäť nosiť masku . Rey Mysterio časom vo WWE získal tituly ako World Heavyweight Championship, Cruiserweight Champion; WWE Tag Team Champion; WCW Tag Team Champion; WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champion a v roku 2006 sa stal víťazom Royal Rumble . Rey Mysterio mal zápasy s takými hviezdami ako Kurt Angle , Edie Guererro , Kidman , JBL,Chavo Guerrerom atd... čo samozrejme že pre jeho kariéru bolo len dobre . Rey Mysterio zažíval aj veľmi nepríjemné chvíle a to keď zomrel Edie Guerrero ktorí bol jeho ozajstný priateľ a teraz nedávno keď zahynul Chris Benoit a tiež keď sa zotavoval z jeho zranenia kolena . No ako správny profesionál nič na sebe nenechal poznať keď bol v ringu a odvádzal naozaj vynikajúce výkony . Mysterio tvoril Tag Team s Batistom o ktorom viacerí hovorili ako o veľmi dobrom spojení tých to wrestlerov . Mysterio dodnes pôsobí v show SmackDown a patrí k jedným z najlepších zápasníkov aké WWE v súčasnej dobe má.
